In my blog you will see 12 pieces of work that I feel very enthusiastic about. They show a variation of my capabilities and interests, both working with texture and composition. For one particular project we were asked to produce a fanzine from a recent trip to Amsterdam, so I recorded everything and anything that caught my eye.

I have also taken photos of my sketch books as I find these just as important as any final illustration.

I loved drawing the people there and particularly collecting unusual textures, this helped me to reach my final illustration. I use this concept on all projects to make it different and ultimately more fun and individual.

Since starting at UCA in September 2008 my skills and knowledge of art have grown and matured. I am able to take on board advise, criticism and work even better when under pressure, especially when challenged on a piece of my work by my tutors. I feel as though I am only part way through a long journey with my art, I have so much to learn and want to continue on this path into my adult life. I am my own worst critic and work incredibly hard, into the early hours to try and achieve the best possible work I can.

Why am I interested in doing this course..... having visited the university I felt very welcomed, I felt there was a buzz and I just wanted to get in the studio and start working. It made me feel as though Manchester was the place for me, in every possible way and that it would bring out my full potential.
